Length of Program

Courses Required:

  • A minimum of 600 hours classroom training in the following areas: Torch Cutting, Gouging, Gas Tungsten Arc, Gas Metal Arc, Plasma Arc, Submerged Arc, Bevel Tube, Tube Replacement, Rigging, Crane Set-Up and Block Reeving, Orbital Welding and Metal Plate Fitting.

Scope of Work

The assembly of boilers, tanks, vats, and pressure vessels in accordance with blueprint specifications, utilizing both power and hand tools.

Boilermaker responsibilities encompass a range of skilled tasks including welding, acetylene cutting, riveting, caulking, rigging, fitting, grounding, reaming, and operating impact machinery. Work will involve the construction, maintenance, and repair of facilities across various industries, including utility plants, chemical processing facilities, automotive manufacturing plants, oil refineries, paper and steel mills, as well as ore processing and mining operations.

All work will be performed at locations throughout the State of Michigan.

Working Conditions

This position is physically demanding and requires the ability to stand for extended periods. Candidates must demonstrate a willingness and capability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in potentially hazardous environments, including those found in the nuclear industry.

The role frequently involves working in dirty conditions and on heavily soiled equipment. Work may be performed in both indoor and outdoor settings, often under varying weather conditions.
